FOUR D's
OF DELIVERANCE
(KEYS TO
RECEIVE COMPLETE DELIVERANCE)
TEXT-.
Luke 18:35-43
INTRODUCTION:
In lsaiah
61:1, the Lord has already proclaimed the salvation of mankind that came to
pass when Jesus proclaimed it in Luke 4:18. The major goal of Jesus is to
deliver us from sin that separated us from our Heavenly Father, from curses and
bondage that the enemy, who is Satan, has inflicted to us.
A. WHAT
IS DELIVERANCE?
In Isaiah
61:1 (NKJV), it was written as "to proclaim liberty to the captives",
in Luke 4:18, it was written as 'to preach deliverance to the captives ... to
set at liberty those who are oppressed.'
DELIVERANCE
(Aphesis) - the act of delivering the state of being delivered.
NKJV -
Isaiah 61:1) proclaiming liberty; opening of prison door
NIV -
release from darkness
NKJV-
(Luke 4:18) liberty, freedom
God will
deliver us not only from our sins but from our oppressors. Take note of what
Jesus taught the disciples concerning prayer: Matt. 6:13'... but deliver us
from the evil one...' And who is the evil one? Satan and his co-oppressors, his
cohorts.
Deliverance
is for all of us. And when God anointed Jesus when He came to earth, to preach
deliverance, this same Jesus anointed us also to preach deliverance, But how
could we minister if we ourselves were not delivered? Here are four keys to
deliverance:
Luke
18:35-43
1.
DETERMINATION - coming to a decision or the decision reached
- firm
and fixed decision
- setting
or making sure of the position
In verse
38, the blind man is determined to receive his sight which has been giving him
suffering. When he heard about Jesus who will pass by, he called out and cried out even
though he was being warned to be quiet. He is determined and has a firm
decision to re-c-eive his deliverance.
2.
DIRECTION - going from one point to another without turning back there is a
focus or goal.
In verse
39, the blind man focused his heart to the Deliverer. He was not moved by
other's warning or whatever hindrances there may be, he has that great faith
that Jesus can and will heal him. He directed his faith to Jesus and it was
that undaunted faith that healed him.
3. DESIRE - burning
passion for something; sometimes it is being meant as "like". But
desire and like have a great difference,
desire -
shall come to pass and we have the faith that God will grant it. like - it is a
matter of choosing whether you like it or not
In verse
41, when Jesus asked the blind man - he straightforwardly told the Master his
desire to see. Deliverance, therefore, must be DESIRED.
4.
DECLARATION - act of declaring something proclaiming victory, testimony.
In verse
43, the man who received his sight glorified God, and many who saw what Jesus
did praised God.
If we
testify to other people what we received from God, many people will draw near
to God for His Kingdom.
CONCLUSION:
Since the
major goal of Jesus is to deliver us from the bondage of sin and oppressions,
let us then be determined to be delivered as we direct our hearts to Jesus and
have to desire to receive the power of God and declare His mighty works in our
lives. With this, we can be used as vessels of God to help others to be free
also.
